The Effects of  Kaal Sarp Dosh will be different for every horoscope depending upon the placement  of Rahu and Ketu and strength of this defect among some other factors in a horoscope.


Duration of Kal-Sarp Yoga (Dosha) : 

      If the House or Place of

    - Rahu in  1st house:  KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   27 years of age.
    - Rahu in  2nd house: KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   33 years of age.
    - Rahu in  3rd house: KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   36 years of age.
    - Rahu in  4th house: KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   42 years of age.
    - Rahu in  5th house: KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   48 years of age.
    - Rahu in  6th house: KalSarp Dosha effect lasts up to   54 years of age.

However, the effect of  Malefic Rahu & Ketu continues for the period of entire life, based on their placement  in the Charts.
Regarding the reduction in effects, there  is no specific prediction. It will takes more than six months of period or more some times its early too. Mostly it depends upon your behavior. Some Ethics  have to follow after performing this Pooja vidhi.

• Avoid outside  food  for a minimum period of one year. In emergency pay for the food you have taken
• Avoid food at Ceremonies like Marriage, Death,Vaastu Shanti, Credal and Child Birth
• Try to avoid Non Vegiterian Food and Alcohal
• If possible do the "Parayaan" of  "GURUCHARITRA" or "BHAGAWAT" 
• Worship the God " LORD SHIVA" if possible do visit Shiva Temple on every Monday
• Chant the Maha Mrutyunjay mantra daily 108 times or at-least on  Monday
